Malls Are Decentralizing Hubs

Malls Are Decentralizing Hubs by Rudy Girón

In a very centralized country like Guatemala malls are becoming decentralizing hubs for the municipios around cities, especially Guatemala City where people don’t have to come into capital to do their shopping, pay their bills or meet with frieds for a bite. For many people who have always have lived in decentralized communities, this might sound like way too obvious, but in Guatemala we still have a long road ahead before we can fully decentralize the country. Commercial centers are just one piece of this process.
