Essence

I never had an interest in cemeteries; in fact, I never quite understood the purpose of them but I recently lost a friend and my point of view changed since then. When I was there I felt time go slower, I saw old people pouring water on the flowers, young people in silence, children asking weird questions…I even heard one saying: “Watch out mom, you just stepped on a dead man.” No matter the religion or faith, each of us has a different perspective of what we consider the truth. Each of us sees plastic or real butterflies.

That particular cemetery is very beautiful: all green with the occasional flowers peeking out.  Personally, a cemetery is a place where we remember our loved ones.  That´s especially true for Día de Todos los Santos, when everyone decks out their family tombs.
