Acatenango Race

Summit Acatenango
Acatenango, third highest volcano in Guatemala, towering over 3,976 meters in altitude and best place to see eruptions of its neighbor Volvan de Fuego.

Every year a race up the summit of the volcano is held. For a normal person under good physical conditions it would take about four hours of hiking to reach the summit.
The best runners for this race do complete the whole circuit up and down the summit in less than three hours.
