San Martín Jilotepeque’s Coffee

San Martín Jilotepeque is a small town not far from Guatemala City. This small town was home to Guatemala’s first Congress, among other relevant historical facts.
Another fact about this town is its great quality coffee. Most of its grains are exported and end up at Japanese supermarkets.
For the first time I’m seeing coffee from this area sold here.

International Commission against Impunity in Guatemala, CICIG is a criminal investigation body, formed by a treaty between Guatemala and the United Nations to combat rampant corruption in the Guatemalan Government.
They have had some amazing cases of success, including the current corruption scandal involving former President Otto Perez Molina, who was forced to resign after CICIG linked him to a criminal organization (allegedly of course), and that is why Guatemalans have come to love this organization.
