Guatemalan Food: Kak’ik

Kak’ik is one of the few remaining pre-Hispanic dishes in Guatemala.

In fact the dish is so important for Guatemalans that it became by law a “Cultural Patrimony”. The name derives from the Mayan language Q’ueqchi’, which means red chilli. The dish is available with different meats, but the most authentic is with turkey.
