No time to lose

One of the advantages of paper book is that you can carry it anywhere without worrying it can be stolen. It is nice to see Guatamalan readers in places like this, a camioneta, an opportunity to expand your mind while waiting to get to your destintation.

Online Reading Community in Guatemala

Saturday, September 24th, 2011

This fantastic group of people gather to discuss mainly about books. Lectores Chapines focuses its activities on the Internet.  It isn’t a traditional reading club but very fun and friendly one.

They have several activities, one of them is the book of the month in which all share a reading and later they meet to exchange ideas. Writers are part of the meetings as well and all the members have the chance to talk with the author; a pleasant experience, believe me.

The guest of this month has been the journalist and writer Haroldo Sánchez with his book Vendo Mi Caja, Me Quiero Morir.  He recommended some of his favorite books, discussed his work in one of the major TV channels in Guatemala, drug trafficking and everything related to his work as a writer.
