Street Performers
Another very talented Street Performer I found on the Streets of San Lucas, Sacatepequez, Guatemala. Gabriel performs on the streets to try to make an honest living.

Street Performers

Street Performers are very common in Guatemala City. You can find them on every street, parks and even on public transportation buses. And honestly, a few of them are indeed very talented. This was taken under a pedestrian bridge at El Trebol, which is on of the most important junctions  in Guatemala City.

El Gordo por Hugo Muralles

The guatemalan songwriter “El Gordo” will be offering several shows in Guatemala City this month. The first of them was a great performance and great audience too. I almost can’t believe that this is the first time that I talk about him in Guatemala Daily Photo, but, there you go, you can listen some of his music (my current favorite tune) in the following player

Señor Juan

Quite awesome guatemalan reggae band, Señor Juan.  Positive lyrics and great live performance. The best part, they have recorded material for free download.

Xb’alanke

Trust me this time, one of the best instrumental/post rock creative bands in Guatemala right now: Xb’alanke.

La Concha Acústica

Sunday, June 24th, 2012

With almost 100 years old, La Concha Acústica located in the center of the city remains as a faithful witness of hundreds of bands and other artistic groups who offer their art for free to all the capitalinos, thirsty as we are, of these cultural activities.

Satisfied Audience

Beethoven’s sculpture in the National Conservatory of Music, in zone 1, sees marching an audience with renewed spirit that leaves installations better than they came.

Your Favorite Marimba Song

Monday, August 29th, 2011

You could say we’re big music fans here in Guatemala Daily Photo. In Guatemala City there are still a few places where you can hear marimba regularly, sometimes in malls. The best opportunities for me are outdoors as shown in the picture.

So, what’s your favorite song performed by marimba?

Semana Musical: Los Mojarras

Saturday, June 18th, 2011

If this band plays live, prepare yourself to have some serious fun, otherwise I suggest to leave the place!

They aren’t the first band of instrumental rock in Guatemala, they are probably with surf music. Have been around for a few years now. They are already working in their second studio album, the new stuff is a little bit diffrent and you can get an idea here. You can visit their website to download the previous album and buy the new one.

In their shows, when some other bands are invited, they always gonna perform at the end of the night, so, keeping the tradition, with this band we finish the first week dedicated to music.

Don’t forget to let us know what you think!

Semana Musical: None At Last

Tuesday, June 14th, 2011

I’ve been thinking that we should have a week dedicated to music. The first band is called None at Last, an experimental rock band that started in 2006, currently recording new material. On their website you can find some of their music for download. When they perform live there are always lots of energy and the sound is really good, the live shows definitely worth it.
